"A Few Good Guys" (1992)
Directed by Rob Reiner
The movie that gave Aaron Sorkin a ticket to Hollywood. At first, it was a play that Sorkin wrote on paper napkins while working as a bartender, but it turned into perhaps the most famous modern court drama with an already iconic climax scene. The main role was played by a young Tom Cruise, besides him, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, Kiefer Sutherland starred in the film. In short, the star cast is traditional for full-length court dramas.
The film tells about a military trial of two Marines who accidentally killed a colleague. But the lawyers believe that they received the order to "teach" the guy a lesson from the commanders. The film was almost 10 years ahead of its time: after 2001, when America launched the "war on terrorism" and turned the Guantanamo base into a prisoner camp, the colonel's rhetoric, played by Nicholson, began to seem even more relevant.
"Primal Fear" (1996)
Directed by Gregory Goblet
Perhaps the least conventional court drama of them all, "Primal Fear" constantly strives to break out of its subgenre. That's why there are fights, chases, corruption on a global scale, and child pornography - in short, everything to avoid looking like a black-and-white classic.
As always, it is impossible not to mention the cast: Richard Gere in the title role, Andre Brower (Captain Gault from Brooklyn 9-9), Laura Linney, Frances McDormand and the unknown debutant Edward Norton as the defendant Aaron. This role instantly made Norton a star - he received an Oscar nomination for it and the way to his stellar roles of the late 90s: in "American History X" and "Fight Club".
Lev Vasilyevich Uspensky (born January 27, 1900) (died 1978), linguist, author of the excellent etymological dictionary of the Russian language "The Word about Words" and many other books. Having decided to respond to Bukharin's call for the creation of a "Russian Pinkerton," Ouspensky (together with his friend Lev Rubinov) wrote a detective novel, The Smell of Lemon (1927), about the GPU's struggle against foreign spies. The novel is full of incredible adventures and transformations; what is the value of just one dog, designed to cross the border of diamonds and sewn into the skin of another dog for this! In the same year, the famous film "The Diplomatic Courier's Bag" was shot based on this book, almost the first Soviet film collection.
